प्राचीन शीत वन स्थित तीर्थ
वामन पुराण में कहा गया है कि नियत आहार करने वाले एवं जितेन्द्रिय मनुष्य को अवश्य ही शीतवन का सेवन करना चाहिए। लोक प्रचलित परम्परा इसे जनकनन्दिनी सीता से भी सम्बन्धित मानती है। प्रचलित विश्वास के अनुसार सीता इसी स्थान पर धरती में समा गई थीं। इसीलिए इस तीर्थ को स्वर्गद्वार के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। नारद पुराण के अनुसार चैत्र मास की चतुर्दशी को इस तीर्थ में स्नान करने पर मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है।

Tirtha situated in the ancient Sheetvan
It is said in the Vamana Purana that a person who takes a balanced diet and has controlled his senses must visit Sheet Van, one of the seven forests of ancient Kurukshetra. Popular tradition associates this tirtha with Sita, the daughter of king Janak. According to popular belief, Sita had entered into the earth at this place. For this reason, this tirtha is also known as Swargdwar. According to the Narada Purana, if someone takes sacred bath in the waters of this tirtha on the day of Chaturdashi of month of Chaitra, gets salvation.
