महर्षि पराशर की तपोस्थली
जनश्रुतियों के अनुसार महर्षि पराशर ने राक्षसों के विनाश के लिए यहां एक यज्ञ का आयोजन किया जिसमें सहस्रों राक्षस जलकर नष्ट हो गए। तब वशिष्ठ एवं पुलस्त्य आदि महर्षियों ने इन्हें रोक कर इनके यज्ञ का निवारण किया। इन्हीं महर्षि पराशर ने बाद में सत्यवती से महर्षि व्यास को उत्पन्न किया जिन्होंने महाभारत एवं अठारह पुराणें की रचना की। तीर्थ परिसर से उत्तर-हड़प्पा काल से लेकर आद्य ऐतिहासिक काल के अवशेष मिलते हैं। यहां मन्दिरों की भित्तियों में भित्ति चित्रों की प्रधानता है।

Place of penances related to sage Parashar
According to folklore, sage Parashar had organized a yajna in which thousands of demons were burnt to death. Then sage Vashishtha and Pulastya etc. stopped his yajna. Later sage Vyasa as the son of sage Parashar was born from his wife Satyavati who composed the Mahabharata and eighteen Puranas. Remains from the Late Harappan to the Early historic period are found in the tirthas complex. Walls of the temples comprise the paintings related to religious themes.
