अश्वत्यामा से सम्बन्धित तीर्थ
जनश्रुति के अनुसार इसी स्थान पर भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के परामर्श अनुसार अर्जुन ने गाण्डीव धनुष की नोक से कौरव महारथी अश्वत्थामा के सिर से मणि निकाल कर उसे मणि विहीन कर दिया था। इस मन्दिर में अश्वत्थामा की मूर्ति की पूजा की जाती है। वामन पुराण के अनुसार यहां पर रुद्र स्वयं कोटि तीर्थों को समाहृत्य करके विद्यमान हैं, अतः यह तीर्थ कोटि तीर्थ भी कहलाता है। जनश्रुति के अनुसार हाट के इस पवित्र सरोवर में पृथ्वी के 68 तीर्थों की कान्ति एवं शक्ति निहित है।

Tirths related to Ashwatthama
According to popular belief, it was at this place that Arjuna, on the advice of Lord Krishna, removed the gem from the forehead of Ashwatthama with the tip of his bow and left him bereft of the gem. The image of Ashwatthama is worshipped in the tirtha temple. According to the Vaman Puran, Rudra himself is present here after incorporating crores of tirthas in this tirtha, hence this tirtha is also called Koti tirtha. According to popular belief, the brilliance and power of 68 tirtha of the earth is contained in the sacred tank of this tirtha.
