मल्लिकेश्वर तीर्थ ढाटरय
प्राचीन दृषद्वती नदी के तट पर स्थित शैव तीर्थ
यह तीर्थ सरस्वती की सहायक नदी दृषद्वती नदी के तट पर स्थित है। लौकिक आख्यानों के अनुसार इस तीर्थ को मल्लिकेश्वर तीर्थ के नाम से जाना जाता है जो कि भगवान शिव का एक नाम माना जाता है। लोक कथाएँ इस तीर्थ का सम्बन्ध भगवान श्रीकृष्ण द्वारा अर्जुन का रथ इस स्थान पर रोकने से भी जोड़ती हैं। एक अन्य लोक मान्यता के अनुसार यह गांव धृतराष्ट्र के नाम से पड़ा है। तीर्थ से कुषाण और गुप्त कालीन पुरावशेष मिले हैं। यहां से 9-10वीं शती ई. की गंगा की एक भग्न मूर्ति भी मिली है जिससे इस तीर्थ की प्राचीनता सिद्ध होती है।
Mallikeshwar Tirtha Dhatrath
Shaiv tirtha located on the bank of River Drishadvati
This tirtha is situated on the bank of the River Drishadvati, a tributary of River Saraswati. According to folklore, this tirtha is known as Mallikeshwar tirtha, which is one of the name of Lord Shiva. Folk tales relate this tirtha to Lord Krishna who had stationed Arjuna’s chariot at this place. According to another folk belief, this village is named after Dhritarashtra. Archaeological remains of Kushan and Gupta period have been found from the village mound. A fragment of doorjamb depicting goddess Ganga of 9th-10th century CE has also been found from this tirtha.
