सोम तीर्थ, अभिमन्युपुर, कुरुक्षेत्र
कुरुक्षेत्र भूमि के सोम तीर्थों में से एक जनश्रुतियों के अनुसार कुरुक्षेत्र भूमि के सोम तीर्थों में से एक इस तीर्थ पर चंद्रमा ने भगवान शिव की आराधना कर आरोग्य प्राप्त किया था। ग्रामवासी इस तीर्थ को शशमाली भी कहते हैं। अदिति क्षेत्र में इस तीर्थ की उपस्थिति प्राचीन ग्रह पूजा की परम्परा को दर्शाती है। तीर्थ परिसर से आद्य ऐतिहासिक काल की पुरावस्तुएं मिलती हैं जिनमें दूसरी शती ई.पू. की यक्ष और यक्ष-यक्षिणी की मूर्तियां प्रसिद्ध हैं। सम्भवतः पूर्व में यह तीर्थ अभिमन्युपुर के पुरातात्विक टीले का ही भाग रहा होगा।
Som Tirtha Abhimanyupur
According to folklore, Som deity, the moon god, attained health by
worshipping Lord Shiva here. The villagers also call this tirtha Shasmaali. The presence of this tirtha in Aditi forest area shows the tradition of ancient planet worship. Antiquities of the proto-historic period are found in the tirtha premises, among which the images of Yaksha and Yaksha- Yakshini of the 2nd century BCE are noteworthy. Probably in the past, this tirtha must have been a part of the archaeological mound of Abhimanyupur.
