शृंगी ऋषि एवं शंखिनी देवी को समर्पित तीर्थ
शृंगी ऋषि और शंखिनी देवी को समर्पित इस तीर्थ के विषय में महाभारत में बताया गया है कि तीर्थ परायण मनुष्य को इस तीर्थ में स्नान करने से उत्तम रूप की प्राप्ति होती है। ब्रह्मपुराण में वर्णित शंखिनी को ही वामन पुराण में संगिनी कहा गया है। प्रचलित मान्यताओं के अनुसार इसी तीर्थ में शंखिनीदेवी ने महर्षि शृंगी की पूजा की थी और बेहर जख में तपस्या की थी। तीर्थ स्थित मन्दिर की भित्तियों पर मत्स्यावतार एवं रासलीला के प्रसंगों का चित्रण है।

Tirtha dedicated to sage Shringi and goddess Shankhini
This tirtha is mentioned in the Mahabharata which is associated with sage Shringi and goddess Shankhini, It is said that a person devoted to this tirtha attains the best form by taking sacred bath in the waters of this tirtha. Goddess Shankhini is named as Sangini in the Vaman Puran. According to popular belief, Goddess Shankhini worshipped sage Shringi at this tirtha and did penance at Behar Jakh. The walls of the existing temple have paintings of Matsya Avatar and Raaslila.
