मातृकाओं से सम्बन्धित तीर्थ
पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार यहां भगवान शिव के ललाट से श्वेद कण गिरने से मातृकाओं की उत्पत्ति हुई थी जिन्होंने असुरों का विनाश किया। इस पर देवताओं ने माताओं को शिव के समान ही पूजा व सम्मान प्राप्त होने का वरदान दिया। जहाँ-जहाँ माताएं रही वहीं-वहीं मातृ तीर्थ स्थापित हुए। ब्रह्म पुराण के अनुसार मातृ तीर्थों का श्रवण, मनन एवं पठन करने वाला मनुष्य भी सम्पूर्ण सुखी व चिरंजीवी होता है। वामन पुराण के अनुसार इस तीर्थ में स्नान करने वाला व्यक्ति प्रचुर वैभव का स्वामी बनता है।

Tirtha related to Mother Goddesses
According to myths, Matrikas or Mother Goddesses were born here due to the sweat droplets falling from Lord Shiva’s forehead. Matrikas further destroyed the demons. On this, the gods gave the boon to mothers to be worshipped and respected like Lord Shiva. All places related to Mother Goddesses turned into the Matri tirthas. According to Brahma Puran, a person who listens, meditates and reads about Mother Goddesses attains happiness and lives long. According to the Vaman Puran, a person who takes bath here in the tirtha becomes the owner of abundant wealth.
