यज्ञसंग तीर्थ गियोंग
गंगा और भीष्म से सम्बन्धित तीर्थ
इस तीर्थ के सम्बन्ध में प्रचलित जनश्रुतियां इसका सम्बन्ध महाभारत काल से ही जोड़ती हैं। कहा जाता है कि गंगा देवी एवं उनके पुत्र गांगेय (भीष्म पितामह) ने महाभारत युद्ध के समय इस स्थान पर अत्यन्त यज्ञ-यागादि किये थे। यज्ञ-भूमि होने से ही इस तीर्थ का नाम यज्ञसंग तीर्थ तथा गांगेय से सम्बन्धित होने पर ग्राम का नाम उस समय गांगेय पड़ा जो कालान्तर में अपभ्रंश होकर गियोंग के नाम से विख्यात हुआ।

Tirthas related to Ganga and Bhishma
The popular folklore about this tirtha relates it to the Mahabharata period. It is said that Ganga and her son Gangeya (Bhishma Pitamah) performed many yajnas at this place during the Mahabharata war. Since this shrine was a place of sacrifice, it was named Yagyasang tirtha and due to its association with Gangeya, the village might have been named Gangeya at that time, which later got corrupted and became famous as Geong.
